“Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games” to be held in 2020 is a festivity of the whole country, and is expected as a great opportunity to enhance the services and infrastructure for ICT in Japan and to publicize its advanced status to the world. The Japanese government has been conducting study toward 2020 anticipating the sustainable economic growth after the Games. EU Meet IoT Special Session Speech: Smart Cities

Meet IoT is an event that became of primary importance in the IoT domain. His main role is to show how the research world and the technological progress in this field could be used by everyday applications and services, and to outline the impact that these new technologies bear on social life.
The first two editions of Meet IoT were held in 2014 (Rome) and 2015 (Torino). As the IoT domain is large, Meet IoT events will focus on a specific target. The first one of these new events, held during TRONSHOW, will be about Smart Cities, and in particular how these technologies can impact large events such as Olympic Games.

Open Data for Public Transportation

There have been increasing needs for the information on advanced public transportation network in urban areas lately. Open data for public transportation is an approach to provide such information by using the “open data” method. The approach is considered essential for providing smooth public transportation services during 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Functional safety certification has been increasingly required for infrastructure devices to be exported. Nikkei BP Special Session: Can Drones Really Take Off?

Drones are now attracting attention as instruments to be used in many industries. On the other hand, the new Civil Aeronautics Act will take effect on December 10, 2015 in Japan which specifically has wordings that restrict the use of drones. As part of approaches toward the realization of a society where anyone can participate in social activity such as employment, leisure and sightseeing irrespective of physical status, age, native language, etc., Pedestrian Mobility Support Service aims to develop environments where anyone can obtain information required for the participation such as “traveling route,” “transportation” and “destination” anytime and anywhere throughout Japan. In this session, approaches to realize pedestrian mobility support and how effective open data is for the support are discussed.

Today, one meaning of “diversity” is the inclusion of people of different races and cultures in a group.
