TRON Association Business Plan for Fiscal Year 2002 |
| The main business points for Fiscal Year 2002 are as follows: 1. Promotion of the T-Engine Project We plan to establish a hardware and software platform (T-Engine, T-Kernel) for configuring next generation real-time systems, and we will carry out activities aimed at securing a worldwide initiative in the embedded systems field. 2. Promotion of the Project to Train Embedded OS Technicians Based on a situation in which a lack of technicians has been actualized, we plan to contribute in the area of human resource training by first planning and conducting technician training seminars based on the ITRON specification. 3. Promotion of the Application of the TRON-Specification Multi-Character OS in the E-Government Field Concerning the construction electronic government, electronic self-governing body systems, etc., we will promote the application of the TRON-specification multi-character operating system by constructing a character code conversion system and conducting experiments to verify and prove its effectiveness. |
Report on TRON Project Promotion at ESC 2002 |
| The world's largest embedded systems exhibit, "Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco 2002," was held in Moscone Center in San Francisco from March 13 through 15. The TRON Association conducted public relations activities at the conference centering on the latest circumstances of the TRON Project. At the convention site, through the cooperation of TRON Association member companies Lantronix Inc. and Accelerated Technology Inc., we distributed ITRON-related materials in both companies' display booths. In addition, on March 14, we held a TRON Association North American district conference, and in a J-Consortium conference, Mr. Haruyasu Itoh of Fujitsu Ltd. gave a presentation titled "An Introduction to the Latest Trends in the ITRON Specification," and Mr. Shoichi Hachiya of Aplix Corporation gave a presentation titled "An Introduction to the Latest State of Affairs in JTRON." |

Development of the IIMP Kernel ¦ÌRON4.0-Specification OS with Memory Protection Function |
| The TRON Association has developed a ¦ÌITRON4.0-specification operating system with
a memory protection function (an IIMP kernel) as a commissioned project among "information
technology development support projects" by the Information-technology Promotion
Agency, Japan. As target processors, the operating system supports three processors:
the ARM940T (ARM Ltd.), the SH3 (Hitachi, Ltd.), and the Pentium (Intel Corp.). In
charge of the project were: Denso Create Inc., Fujitsu Devices Inc., Elmic Systems
Inc., A.I. Corporation, and the Takada Laboratory of Toyohashi University of Technology.
Furthermore, we are planning to distribute the developed operating system as free
software at the beginning of June. IIMP is an abbreviation of "Implementation of ITRON with Memory Protection." |
